Cancer Information and Support Network, Inc. Cancer survivor and activist, Margaret (Peggy) Devine, B.S., C.L.S. created (CISN) in 2001. We are a 501c (3) non-profit organization. On 1/4/23 Peggy handed off CISN to Sinan Tanyolac, M.D. and his wife Chira Chen-Tanyolac, B.S.. Sinan is the new President, CEO and President of the Board of Directors. Chira is the new CFO, Treasurer and Secretary.

We understand and strive to address issues confronting cancer patients and their loved ones regarding treatments, research, survivorship and other aspects of the cancer experience. We are here to share and empower people with information, emerging solutions, support and inspiration.

Nobody should be alone as they move through cancer!

CISN works on behalf of the 1.2 million people who will be diagnosed with cancer every year to ensure that their voices and perspectives are part of the research process, from clinical trial design, to informed consent, to patient-centered, patient-focused education. Additionally, CISN partners with not for profit organizations to develop comprehensive educational took kits to help patients and their families manage their cancer experiences.

In the last few years, CISN has successfully worked with over 50 organizations (not for profit organizations, major research centers, government agencies and pharmaceutical / biotechnology companies) to develop programs, trainings and materials. Introducing medical literacy and patient focus into the process have proven results: increasing comprehension leads to greater compliance with clinical trial requirements by participants, deeper understanding of what cancer clinical trials are all about has led to increased participation and overall higher retention in clinical trials.
